The scariest part of a cruise is not always the ocean. Sometimes it is the moment you realize a medical emergency at sea has a price tag that looks like a down payment on a house. We start with the latest cruise news that sounds almost unbelievable until you remember it all happened to real passengers.
We talk through the latest cruise incidents a swimming-with-pigs lawsuit and an arrest at Port Canaveral after a couple allegedly forced their way into a family stateroom and attacked passengers, including a child. We also cover a man-overboard case near Scotland that delays disembarkation for all passengers.
The core of the podcast revolves around what happens if you cruise without insurance, especially remotely, and the benefits of door to door third party insurance. A Honduras rope swing accident turns into a remote medical crisis with a costly medical evacuation that required a Go Fund Me. We break down cruise line travel insurance versus third-party comprehensive travel insurance, what “end-to-end” protection really means, why claims often require piles of documentation, and how preexisting condition waivers can depend on buying a policy weeks before departure.
If this helped you rethink shore excursion safety, cruise travel insurance, or medical evacuation planning, subscribe, share the episode with a cruise buddy, and leave us a review.

A Dark Cruise Mystery Setup
Speaker 5Somewhere beyond the buffet, the pool deck, and the promise of paradise, something's gone terribly wrong. On Cruise Chip Killer, host Kathy and Geoff break down the latest cruise ship news. They dive into the remarkable cases from today and the past, separating what's known, what's disputed, and what remains unexplained. Through it all, they entertain one highly unofficial question. What if there is a cruise ship killer? The stories are real, the theory is not. Welcome aboard to Cruise Ship Killer.
AirVac Becomes The Keyword
Speaker 5The word of the day is AirVac.
SpeakerWelcome to episode two, season two of Cruise Ship Killer. Hi, Kathy. Hi, Geoff. Um, this is a pretty fun show because we're doing a new thing, season two, right? We're talking about like all the latest news because we can't keep up with it. I know. Seriously. So I'm gonna let you take it away because you have changed your mind.
Swimming With Pigs Turns Risky
Speaker 1Yes.
SpeakerYou gotta tell us what have you changed your mind about.
Speaker 1So last podcast we talked about this swimming with the pigs excursion in the Bahamas, and you were like, ew, and I was like, oh no, I'm all in. I love pigs, I love animals, yeah. You're all do it, yeah.
SpeakerAnd I was like, who is doing that? Yeah, you know a lot of people. There's three different ones on that on that one island, there's three different places to do it.
Speaker 1Their Facebook page has like over a million followers, that pig, the swimming with the pigs. But I started researching after we did that podcast, and I found an article where this guy has friends that live over there, and he's like, Yeah, my friend said not to do it, but I'm gonna do it. You know, he goes, I did it, and then he's telling us, Oh no, you shouldn't do it. And he's talking about these aren't little cute baby pigs. Some of them are large, like they weigh 400 pounds, they have huge tusks, there's poop floating in the water while you're swimming there, and you know, if you don't feed them correctly, you you could get bit. And I was like, Oh yeah, no, I'm not swimming with the pigs now. And then like a week later, I see another thing where um this guy has filed a lawsuit uh for swimming with the pigs because last year he got bit, and he when he got off the ship four days later, he went straight to the emergency room and he had stitches and rabies shots, and now he's filed a lawsuit for physical pain, mental anguish, disfigurement, loss of enjoyment of life. And he's saying that the cruise ship, which I believe was yeah, Norwegian, um, he's accusing Norwegian of failing to warn passengers about potential animal bites or disease transmission and failing to enforce proper safety protocols during this animal interaction. So he's got a lawsuit pending, and then I read another story where I think it was this year, a man went swimming with the pigs and he cut or he scraped his ankle, I guess, while he was swimming with them, and he got the flesh-eating bacteria and almost died.
SpeakerI saw , heard that.
Speaker 1Right. So I'm sticking to swimming with the dolphins again. Back to the dolphins.
unknownYeah.
SpeakerThere was also some uh model, I guess, in 2019, that they were on a shoot and the pigs were involved, and she also got injured.
Speaker 2Yikes.
SpeakerAnd I don't know what she caught from it, but yeah, you can get a lot of you no, the rabies is really rare in swine, from what I understand.
Speaker 1Yeah, but they were saying you can get a lot of bacterial infections from the swine feces and urine in the water where you know, where you're swimming. And you know, they're trained to they know the people are there to feed them. So you get in and they're all charging at you like for food. Right. So do you think this guy obviously this guy it happened a year ago, so you got that window, one year window, folks, right? If something goes wrong and you want to sue, you're probably gonna try to settle, and that's probably what they did. Now he's demanding a jury trial. Right.
SpeakerRight? No, we have no idea what he's asking. But you you can imagine.
Speaker 2Yeah.
SpeakerI mean he's he's lost, what was it? All life enjoyment. That'll do that to you.
Speaker 1Lots unless you're eating them. Enjoyment of life.
SpeakerThat's the opposite that happens, right? We all like bacon. I like bacon. Yeah. Yeah. Don't want to get bit by the bacon. Right. I would lose my enjoyment of life. Yeah. Yeah. Anyway, he so he so but this is also a perfect scenario. He booked this excursion while on the ship.
Speaker 1Yeah, ship excitement.
SpeakerSo he just went up to the counter.
Speaker 1Yeah.
SpeakerWe don't even know if he had a drink package. We don't know when he booked it.
Speaker 1We don't.
SpeakerWe don't so did he read the fine print, who knows? Right? But he's claiming like the marketing materials, because we've talked about this, the marketing materials talks it all up, and they're obligated to kind of vet these things, and they have to tell you, hey, oh, passengers are saying this has happened, and this is the good and the bad, right? And then you kind of make up your mind and you go.
Speaker 1Yeah.
SpeakerI don't know.
Speaker 1Maybe there should be a like five out of every hundred swimmers will get bit, you know. I don't know.
SpeakerI just would not get on the jury for this one because I would be shaking my head and they'd be like, no, he's gotta go because he keeps shaking his head. Because I would be sitting there thinking, what a normal person would rationally say, I think there's something wrong with this picture. Like something might, I might get sick with something. This doesn't seem normal.
Speaker 1And there's a lot of abnormal people swimming with pigs. I mean, they have huge amounts of people swimming with these pigs.
SpeakerThis is crazy.
Speaker 1Yeah, maybe not now, you know, after we've we gotta find an article.
SpeakerSo so people's gotta be people have to be talking about this. Like it's gotta be another article that's about we love the pigs every year. We go back.
Speaker 1Yeah.
SpeakerYou know, you gotta wonder someone like what's a family tradition. We go every year.
unknownYeah.
SpeakerAnd we see the same pig, we named them. Ah, it's weird. All right. That's that's just crazy. That's just crazy. Yeah, and they've got them how many followers on Instagram, I heard a quarter of a million.
Speaker 1They've got a million on Facebook.
SpeakerOkay, okay, so a hell of a lot more than you and I have.
Speaker 1Yeah. Yes.
SpeakerAnd it's 197 bucks. Oh, at least what this guy did.
Speaker 1That's expensive.
Speaker197 bucks.
Speaker 1Yeah?
SpeakerYeah, 159 if you're a kid. Go figure.
Speaker 1Oh gosh, don't bring your kids.
SpeakerWouldn't the kid enjoy it more than the adult, so the kid should pay more?
Speaker 1Don't bring your kids.
SpeakerWhat is this, like a size thing? Like I don't know. This seems like a real risky thing to bring kids.
Speaker 1Yeah. I wouldn't bring kids.
Stateroom Fight Ends In Arrests
Speaker 1Uh okay, so then the second thing that happened within the last couple weeks, well, this was last weekend, actually, an Ohio couple was arrested at Port Canaveral when they got off the ship for forcing their way into a family stateroom and attacking the couple, including their nine-year-old child. The couple were outside in the hallway arguing, and so the family opened the door and asked them to keep it down, and then the girlfriend says to the boyfriend to attack them, and he does. He just goes in there and he starts hitting everyone. Um the reports won't say what cruise line it was. Right. But there were two carnival ships in Port
SpeakerMardi Gras was one of them, right?
Speaker 1I don't know.
SpeakerYes, it's Mardi Gras. I'm I'm gonna bet it's Mardi Gras. We should bet. But you think it's a Carnival.
Speaker 1Well, a Disney and a Royal Caribbean, so it could have been Royal Caribbean, but yes, alcohol was involved in in this little altercation, also.
SpeakerIt's Mardi Gras.
Speaker 1Yeah, I don't know.
SpeakerThe other ship was freedom.
Speaker 1Oh.
SpeakerSo you got Mardi Gras, you have freedom.
Speaker 2Yeah.
SpeakerIt's not really fair to point the finger at Carnival, but come on, we've we all know what happens there. So yeah. But this is crazy. They're in their late 20s.
Speaker 2Yeah.
SpeakerThey went, she actually went down and chased these people because they just said, Can you quiet down?
Speaker 2Yeah.
SpeakerAnd she's the one that went in there, and apparently she's throwing blows left and right.
Speaker 2Yeah.
SpeakerThen he apparently is has been accused of hitting the three of them, the three people that were in the room. The one was a child. Yes. And but he sustained some, like I saw the black eye Yeah, he got he got some pretty good eye injury.
Speaker 2Yes.
SpeakerLike not just a black eye like his eye's pretty, pretty, you know, banged up. But what one of the articles I read, they don't know how he got the eye injury. It could have been from, I just thought this is great, from friendly fire.
Speaker 3The girlfriend.
SpeakerSo you're just because I'm immediately picturing this small, you know, state room. Because there's not very much room. No. You have to, you it's hard to get by your your your partner to go to the restroom sometimes. Can you imagine suddenly a fight breaking out?
Speaker 1Yeah.
SpeakerYou know? So this lady's just flailing her arms around. I think she clocked her own boyfriend.
Speaker 1Probably. But I mean, gosh, now you have something else to worry about. Somebody actually like busting your door in while you're standing there and you know, beating you up now.
SpeakerDid they get did they get uh do we know when in their uh we don't know the ship, so we have no idea what itinerary we don't no we don't know if this occurred midway through and they got arrested. Because I'm dying to read the story where somebody's like, yeah, they got put in the clink.
Speaker 1No, I asked, did they get put in the jail on the ship and it didn't say it well, it doesn't give that info. Just that they were arrested when they got off the ship.
SpeakerWhy wouldn't it why would it be so secret?
Speaker 1I don't know.
SpeakerWhy you know it's I mean the the charges of it it's in uh Miami, right? what's the county? Brevard?
Speaker 1Port Port Canaveral. So and that's uh yeah, so it's that's kind of up by is that up by Orlando or But the but the sheriff they've already they've made charges, right?
SpeakerSo you would think that in in the documents that they say this has occurred at this place during this time, blah, blah, blah. We'd all know that. So it's weird not knowing what what ship it was on.
Speaker 1Yeah, they they won't say. I don't know.
SpeakerMaybe maybe it actually was a boat.
Speaker 1Ah, wow. There's a bit of that coming in a minute, also.
Speaker 3Oh boat. Okay.
Speaker 1Uh
Overboard On A Scotland Cruise
Speaker 1then a couple days ago, a man went overboard on a cruise ship off the coast of Scotland. Uh he was on a 19-day solar eclipse cruise, and this one actually could be CSK.
SpeakerThe fight could have been CSK. They were like hired by him to be a distractor. Maybe he just didn't get the person over. That could be.
Speaker 1I don't think that could be. But this man was it's like a another former case we talked about where the guy actually survived. But this man went over the night before they knew he was missing. The next morning they, you know, didn't know where he was, and the attendants went in his room and his bed hadn't been slept in, and his luggage is in there. So they're calling his name and he's not answering. So then they're making the someone's overboard call and searching for them. Unlike the guy in the Caribbean who survived, this unfortunately is the North Sea, which probably is like 63 degrees in the summer. He probably got an hour or two, and the guy was out there all night before they even knew he was he was missing, so they recovered his body later in the day.
SpeakerNow I read they wouldn't let the passengers and crew off when they got to port. Which obviously, if you're trying to catch your flight because you're you're done, you're kind of like, oh man, I can't get off all, you know, so that can screw it up everybody's traveling plans probably. But I heard people were really well-natured about it.
Speaker 1Yeah, I think most people would be. I would think so. Yeah.
SpeakerI would think so. They heard I guess they blasted over the intercom looking for this person to you know say, can you please come to such and such place immediately? I think everybody kind of got a clue, like, uh oh, someone's gone, yeah. Yeah, something's up.
Speaker 1Yeah.
SpeakerParticularly when you're said you can't leave. Because we know what happens when you do let people go. Remember I now the name is escaping. Amy. Yes. Amy Bradley. Yes. Yeah, yeah, that story. Yeah. When we they let the people go, and yeah, here we are today. We have no idea. Yeah. So thankfully they found a body.
Speaker 1Yeah. So the last thing before we get into our remote Cruise
SpeakerThat ship or cruise that this gentleman was on was a solar eclipse adventure. Yes. Around where was it going around uh Scotland? Scotland?
Speaker 1I think so.
SpeakerAnd so yeah, CSK. He could be a solar, he could be a you know amateur astronomer.
Speaker 1New cruise for him. And this is like, yeah, he's gone to on a British cruise line. Yeah. Okay. So
Jeopardy Champ And Cruise Trivia
Speaker 1last night I was watching uh Jeopardy, and this contestant is on there, and you know, they say, Tell us about yourself, and the guy says, Well, we just returned from a cruise and our family won a bottle of champagne for winning all these trivia games, and they said we were the smartest family on the boat. And I'm like, No.
SpeakerHe's taken right after me. Deductions. He's listening to me.
Speaker 1Deductions. Time to give that champagne back.
SpeakerNow that would have been funny if if the host had said, I'm sorry, no, what is ship?
Speaker 1Yes. I would have. Let me on there as a guess host.
SpeakerWhat is ship? I'm sorry, Bob. And how much did you wager? That bottle of champagne. Okay.
Speaker 1Yeah.
SpeakerYeah. Well, that's interesting.
Speaker 1Yeah. Okay, so
Honduras Injury And AirVac Bill
Speaker 1our main topic. Our main topic today, now that we've finished the what's up cruisers section, is what happens to you if you're on a cruise in a remote area and you have some kind of medical emergency and you don't have insurance and how costly that can be.
SpeakerBecause what inspired you on this one? There was one the one in particular story that made you start asking questions.
Speaker 1The girl who recently was on a cruise, um carnival cruise, and she went on an excursion in Honduras to do a rope swing excursion.
SpeakerWas it a rope swing or a zip line?
Speaker 1It was a rope swing.
SpeakerRope swing.
Speaker 1Yeah. It was a rope swing.
SpeakerI'm thinking of like when I was a kid, rope swinging into a pond. That kind of thing?
Speaker 1Yeah, that's what she was doing.
SpeakerWhat the heck? Okay. It's bizarre. Okay, but go on.
Speaker 1Yeah. So she's on this rope swing and there's a line that is improperly placed on the rope swing. And she Oh God. Yeah. So she lets go of the rope and and the I'm cringing just the thinking about it
SpeakerYeah, I mean I'm imagining what's happening here. Yeah. It doesn't sound like it's gonna be good.
Speaker 1No, she fell, you know, on the line and sustained a pretty horrific like vaginal injury. Oh Lord. And so she was on the bus back to the ship, and she's you know, she's trying to kind of laugh it off, like, oh my God, I can't believe this. And um, you know, but it's starting to hurt more and more. By the time she gets back to the ship, she can't walk, and she's they gotta get her a wheelchair.
SpeakerSo she gets to the medical bay.
Speaker 1Right. So she gets to the medical bay, and they're in there trying to help her, and just the swelling won't stop, and it's swelling, and it's swelling, and they're giving her pain meds, and every time they give her pain meds, she like stops breathing.
Speaker 3Oh Lord.
Speaker 1So um her boyfriend, I think, he had to set up a GoFundMe for her, but I think even in there, he says um, you know, it just the swelling wouldn't stop, and he said it it got to the point where in his words was her her girly parts were the size of grapefruits. It was so bad the swelling.
Speaker 3Oh my lord.
Speaker 1So they were giving them some options, and they said, your options are we can air vac to the US, you can transport to Cozumel to find a flight home from there, or you can remain on the ship medical. And so since the ship medical really could not um help her, they decided to do the air vac to the US. And so $50,000, um $20,000 paid up front for them to get a helicopter to get her, and then $30,000 due when she reaches the US. And then multiple surgeries. Her onboard medical bill was like $3,500, but that didn't even include the doctor, the meds, or any procedures that they did. So she's gotten zero insurance to cover any of this. And I was looking at her, you know, policy like, oh, if she had let's say she got the carnival cruise line policy, they would have covered maybe part of the evacuation, but she didn't do this excursion through the ship, she did it through a third party, and so that wouldn't have covered it anyway.
SpeakerWhat about her own health insurance?
Speaker 1Like just you know, I'm not sure whether it's stateside health insurance. Yeah.
SpeakerMy understanding is that they don't cover stuff that's outside.
Speaker 2Oh.
SpeakerSo when you're at sea, you're your own health insurance is it's not gonna apply. They're gonna deny it, let's put it that way.
Speaker 2Okay.
SpeakerAnd it's gonna get kicked over to whatever secondary you may have.
unknownYeah.
Speaker 1If you have it. Right. You better have it. I've She didn't have it in this case. She didn't have it, and uh sadly, this was her very first cruise. Oh man. And uh I think this happened like the third day of the cruise, and so not sure.
SpeakerYou gotta wonder if she's like I'm done.
Speaker 1Yeah, yeah. I don't know. So you were gonna talk about the third party.
Cruise Insurance Versus Third Party
SpeakerYeah, so you can do, like you said, you can do um, you know, get do the easy button, which is when you're booking your trip. Get insurance, travel insurance basically through the the cruise line. And you're right, it does, it can cover um, you know, evacuation from, you know, maybe one of the areas you're in, and you some of the medical treatment, but it's real, it's real confined to what's going on on the ship. So it's very limited in its coverage. So you really don't have as easy as it is to just say, oh, just add that in for 20 bucks, right? It's just not gonna give you the coverage you need at all. Uh as a matter of fact, if you go on like one of the expedition cruises, like the one with the Hanta virus, yeah. It's a perfect example. Yeah. That, you know, is uh those are expensive trips. You're doing risky things. Most of those operators will um require like a minimum level of insurance.
Speaker 1Right. They don't let you board an expedition cruise without it.
SpeakerThey won't let you board. As a matter of fact, some will roll it in um to their cost. So I like I got curious. I said, hey, I'm gonna go on one. So I did some research and I picked a Greenland one on um, oh, I think I want to say they're called, it's called Cork Expeditions. They have they have two helicopters on this ship, even though there's like only a hundred of us. But this ship has two helicopters, so you're doing a lot of helicopters, and for those of you that heard like my whole transportation thing on expeditions, that like that's where things go bad. So there's two helicopters, and you're gonna be riding around in helicopters, and they had like 30 um what do you call those inflatable zodiacs? Those are boats, yes, zodiacs. 30 zodiacs, and you're basically bolting out on the zodiacs all over Greenland and you're going all over the place. Um, so your opportunity for getting hurt is pretty high, but you can but you but it's just not there though that you can get hurt. Like when I was thinking about it, I'm like, well, wait, I could get hurt on the way to the airport.
Speaker 2Yes.
SpeakerBefore I even get on this ship.
Speaker 2Yes, right?
SpeakerSo if I just had the Expedition insurance, and I went with that, even though it may be covering me at half a million dollars. So no matter, so if I gotta get air vaced off Greenland or whatever, just like this this poor girl had to do, I'm gonna definitely be covered, you know. Uh should be, hopefully, right? But it's not covering the whole of the trip, end-to-end. Right, you have to have so you you gotta do, you have to do the third party. It doesn't matter. Like that's just a it's just a no-brainer. So, of course, I think my knee-jerk reaction is like, oh my gosh. So my Greenland cruise that I just am planning on doing. Now, granted, they had a sale going on. So if I was a solo passenger, so I turned to my wife and I said, we're doing all right. So I think we'll go together. So it'd be about 22,000 bucks for me if I went solo, if we weren't doing well, it'd be like 15,000 for me. So it'd be a sale, but nonetheless, it's a lot of money, right? So I'm thinking, oh man, I wonder what the insurance is gonna cost for this risky endeavor of mine, right? I was surprised. The average third-party cost for a comprehensive policy, meaning end-to-end, right? You can and there's like a standard, and don't ask me what the standard is, I think that kind of varies from the provider about what how how a how a standard policy is defined. And I have a feeling it has to do with, yeah, we'll cover the moment you get on that ship and the moment you leave that ship, but we're not gonna cover your taxi right after that and this and that. Well, who knows, right? But the comprehensive, where it's like, hey, I just don't want to, I'm gonna I'm gonna sleep really nicely the whole trip, that comprehensive is anywhere between four to it can be 10% of your total trip cost. So there's the homework, right? So if you're if you're planning a cruise right now and you see the easy button to get that insurance, you can click that. I mean, it's it's just gonna be extra, but it's not gonna cover what you if things go south. It's gonna be a and it's gonna also be a headache. You gotta still file claims.
Speaker 1Right.
SpeakerAnd that's probably the most critical thing. You have to have documentation up the wazoo because you're now gonna go through and file when you have health insurance, you're still gonna file to your stateside health insurance because the secondary insurers are gonna say, Well, did you ask your first guy to pay? Right? Oh, oh, he said no? Okay, well, send us that documentation. So you could be months out before you get reimbursed. So even though you have comprehensive, you still have to do your homework of keeping your you know, your um your timeline, all your documentation, all that kind of stuff. Hopefully you're with somebody that can keep that, because if you're injured, like this poor girl, you're not doing that.
Speaker 1Right. I have got the ship insurance before on Princess, but I think it's basically like, oh, I'm within the 120 days and uh, you know, somebody's sick, so I can't go now, and it'll cover that. But also when they say that, you don't really get I believe you don't get reimbursed in money, it's future cruise credits yes, that's right.
SpeakerYes, that's exactly right. Yeah, that's exactly right. Uh the like for my expedition cruise, which is not a cheap cruise. 1,500 bucks. End. What a deal. It's good, it's like a no-brainer.
Speaker 2Yeah.
SpeakerIt's uh it's just it's you're almost stupid not to do it. When we went on that uh what five-day Mexican cruise to uh Cabo, right? That little just quick jaunt down down there? Yes. Well, thank God nothing, thank God Kris didn't fall out of that truck, and we have to get treated in Cabo because Mexican hospitals want payment right up front.
Speaker 2Right.
SpeakerYou know, so you so you're gonna get dinged right away. And if you but if you have that comprehensive coverage, part of the protocol is that they'll all they'll reach right out to to them and say, hey, we've got somebody in here, you know, they're insured, yada yada yada, right? So you you have you have greater coverage. So definitely.
Speaker 1Yeah, I think yeah, that's also the one where we were on a non-ship sponsored cruise of riding with the camels, and you know, if we had fallen off our camel ran over us after we fell off, you know.
SpeakerOr our bus ride? Yeah, where we're going. Oh, yeah. I swear to God, we had to be going 80 in that thing. Am I right? And we're all just like, yeah, yeah, well, they guess they drive fast here. Yeah, boy, I was in cruise head, I wasn't paying any attention. Yeah, yeah, it's just like, oh my gosh, we are flying down this road, get to the camels quickly. Yeah, so my my my thing is definitely get it. Yes, and I would not tell anyone, it doesn't matter like earlier today. I said, okay, I'm gonna go on the simplest of cruises, I'm gonna go back on my Mexican cruise. This is like short, little jaunt, it's not very costly. Okay, yeah, so take the high of 10% of that trip cost, maybe like 50 bucks. You know, it's really nothing when you think about it. It's like a no-brainer. It's like, of course I would do that. But you have to do the homework. Yeah, and there are like Alliance is one, Travel Guard, uh, Travel X, right? They there really are only a handful of them, um, which is good because they're competitive then. Yeah. So um, but it's definitely worth doing it. It's definitely worth doing it. What I didn't look up, which I think people should probably look up, there has to be uh probably on one of the cruise uh websites, you know, not not the cruise line, but somebody's probably got something where they got a calculator up there. Like, hey, tell me what your travel expenses are, and I'll give you a quote and you know, anybody can do the math here. You know, go low at 4% of your total cost, that's gonna be your low end. Go high at 10%, and if you're above 60 years old, you probably need to bump a little bit.
Speaker 1Well, that's great. Yeah, sorry.
SpeakerThey were paying double next time you want to. I didn't do that homework, but yeah, it's gonna be a little bit up there.
Timing Rules And Preexisting Waivers
SpeakerOh, and the other thing, here's the other kicker. So let's say you're like, oh, I'm getting ready to go on this this trip in five days, and Kathy and Jeff are saying we really got to get this, and now you go get it. Well, guess what? The pre-existing conditions waiver that can run run with these things, you have to buy it 14 to 21 days prior to your departure. So it wouldn't apply. So if you go with a heart condition and something happens to your heart, yeah, and you right, they're gonna pull that card and say, oh no, no, not on us, buddy. So if you don't have it, yeah.
Speaker 1No, I definitely um I I've watched some cruiser uh YouTube people I like. Uh Gary Bembridge is one of them. He has a show called Tips for Travelers where he has a whole show on insurance and everything. And um I think that my days of just buying the cruise ship insurance is over, and I'll just from be doing the third-party end-to-end, like we just talked about.
SpeakerAnd I bet once you find one and you go through that process, then it's easy for the other trips, right? Because you've already done it. You're kind of know the routine and Dave's like, we're not going on any other trip. But we are, doesn't want to go on my Greenland expedition. I want to go on this expedition, you know. I am a little nervous about the helicopters, don't get me wrong. Anyway, yeah. So that's it. I mean on the insurance thing for sure. There's no doubt about it. No doubt about it. I feel for this poor girl that's saddled with this. So he's doing so the you said the boyfriend is doing a GoFundMe?
Speaker 1He's doing a GoFundMe for 26,000 and she's at like 22,800 right now. But yeah, I'm sure she's I just cringe when I you know read about her to think about it, because I d I'm just like, oh my God, like I'm it kind of makes me physically sick, but yeah, um, she's probably very traumatized.
SpeakerWell, the guy that got bit by the pig who's suing now, uh he got a laceration. Now remember, this is all coming from the filing. So they claim he got a laceration and a puncture wound. He didn't seek treatment until he got back. Right four days later.
Speaker 1Right.
SpeakerSo you mean to tell me he's rolling around on a cruise ship bed bleeding to death or not? And then they stitched him up four days later. That doesn't make any sense to me.
Speaker 1Yeah, I I thought the same. He waited till he got off to go to the ER.
SpeakerSee, this is why I would not be a juror on that case. I'd be shaking my head. They'd be like, no, he has to go. Because he's already reading through our BS. He's already calling BS and we haven't even started. Yeah. Oh my gosh. Yeah, so anyway, so you gotta wonder if he maybe he didn't have insurance. Maybe he was just like, I gotta wait.
Speaker 1True.
SpeakerYou know, and then he got home and he saw this stuff about the pigs.
Speaker 1At least stop by the medical bay and get some what is that stuff that used to spray with Bacteen and a band-aid or something, you know? I don't know.
SpeakerHave you ever had to go to the medical bay?
Speaker 1No. I heard it's quite expensive though, if you have to go. I heard it's expensive.
SpeakerSo say for like a Norwegian line ship that's 4,000 passengers. How many medical staff are there? Do you know?
Speaker 1I don't know.
SpeakerWhat'd you guess? A couple doctors? Could be more than two. There was a show on television recently that I don't remember the name of it. It was a series on one of the networks. Some cruise doctor.
Speaker 1Yeah, it's been cancelled just for a while. Right, what is it called?
SpeakerWhat is it called? I don't know. It was horrible. It was hokey.
Speaker 1Just the name was hokey, and I'm like, no, I'm not watching this. No, okay.
SpeakerWe're why I watched a couple. We tried. It was hard. It was hard to watch. Because you're kind of also thinking of Doc at the Love Boat. And this guy was not Doc at the Love Boat, he's like more intense. So it was more, it was like ER on the water. It tried to be like ER on the water.
Speaker 3Yeah.
SpeakerIt was it was horrible. It was a bad idea. That's where CSK probably was like, oh, yeah, no, we're not doing this. Click that off.
Speaker 1Yeah.
SpeakerAll right.
Wrap Up And Next Stories Tease
Speaker 1So next uh podcast, I think we're gonna go back and tell a few more overboard stories. Okay. In relation to, you know, if CSK is involved or not.
SpeakerThe other thing it we keep saying he.
Speaker 1I know. Could be a she.
SpeakerIt's horrible, right? Yeah. Oh, it could be a she. Yeah. Could be a them. You don't know.
Speaker 1Could be a yes, a duo.
SpeakerWe don't know. We don't know who's a duo. It could be a team. Yes. Yeah, I mean, these these two that broke out on the fight or the guy that had the Russians. I mean, you never know who's involved, right?
Speaker 1Right.
SpeakerYeah, we good God. Okay. All right, until next time, right? Yes. Anchors Away.
Speaker 1Anchors Away.
